LITURGICAL MINISTRIES

1. Altar Servers
Altar servers are parish boys and girls, fifth grade and older, who assist at Sunday Eucharist and on major feasts of the year. A training program is conducted as announced.

2. Arimeathea
Adult assistances serving during funeral Masses in the Parish.

3. Cantors
Cantors lead our Assembly in song at five Masses each weekend as well as at special celebrations and services. Cantors should have a pleasant singing voice and clear speaking voice. The ability to read music is helpful but not a requirement.

4. Children's Liturgy of The Word (CLOW)
These volunteers have the responsibility of sharing the sacred scriptures with our young people age's kindergarten through fourth grade during many of our weekend Masses throughout the year. The children and their leader are excused from the assembly at the beginning of the Liturgy of the Word and gather in a separate worship space where the scriptures are proclaimed for our young people in language they can understand. They also participate in an activity that assists them in understanding the meaning of the word in their lives. The children return to mass for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Training is provided through the Office of Elementary and Family Catechesis.

5. Choir
Our Adult Choir supports assembly song and enhances worship through other special music at the 11am Mass in the church each Sunday from Labor Day through Corpus Christi and at special celebrations throughout the year. Our Youth Choir sings one Sunday a month at the 11:00 a.m. Mass. Our A Cappella Choir sings at special events in the parish and community.

6. Contemporary Music
Our Contemporary Music Groups support assembly song and enhance worship at the 9am and 11am Masses in the Parish Hall each Sunday. The groups use an instrumental combination of piano, acoustic guitars, electric bass and voices to praise God.

7. Deaf
These volunteers assist in a variety of ministries, religious education teachers to Deaf Interpreters at mass celebrations, Baptisms, Confirmation, etc.

8. Environment (Decorating)
This committee has the responsibility of enhancing the church area for worship such as decorating for the major feasts and seasons of the year.

9. Eucharist
These ministers assist in the distribution of communion on Sundays, Holy Days and other special celebrations. Some ministers also distribute communion at the hospital, nursing homes and to parishioners confined at home. Training sessions are held regularly throughout the year.

10. Evening Prayer
During the Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter seasons the parish celebrates Evening Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours. This committee is responsible for planning the service and assisting with the celebration (readers, set-up, master of ceremonies, etc.) The committee is always looking for persons who can help especially persons with computer skills who can assist in assembling the worship booklets.

11. Lectors
Lectors proclaim the scriptures at Sunday Mass and other liturgical celebrations. Any parishioner high school age or older is invited to be trained to share in the ministry of God's word. Training sessions are held periodically throughout the year.

12. Liturgy Committee
This committee is made up of parishioners who are involved in serving in various roles in the liturgical life of the parish. With the help of ongoing education and training, they act on behalf of all parishioners in designing our community's prayer life during the liturgical seasons, special feasts, holy days, and children's liturgy of the word. Meetings are monthly.

13. Ushers
This is a ministry of hospitality in which the usher greets and guides worshiper's seating as they come to church, direct the collection, direct the presentation of the gifts and facilitate the communion procession. All men, women, young adults, and families are invited to fill this role. All ages are welcomed.
